Jesse Jackson's Statement

Jesse Jackson is troubling. I can not imagine my pastor saying he wanted to "cut his n**ts off" about anyone. Jesse Jackson does not act like a pastor in my view.

The question I have is would Jesus be upset with somebody urging more personal responsibilty in their lives? Jesus told people to quit their old lives and go and sin no more. He did not appease them and tell them to go about their lives as they are used to because society keeps them in sin.

Barak Obama presented a Christian response of forgiveness. I am unsure if it is just a political response or if he truly does forgive him, but Barak did publicly accept his apology.

Prayer Works

Yes, prayer to Jesus Christ does work. First and foremost it works for salvation and eternal life with Him. It also works in more earthly ways.

My church had a 24 hour prayer vigil for members of our congregation that had employment needs. I have heard of alot of answered prayers from the vigil. One man had been out of work for at least a year, but has now found a job and is very happy with it.

Prediction

This oil bubble will pop. It will either pop due to the eventual cooling of the Chinese and Indian economies (like Japan's did in the 90's) or it will pop because the American people will insist on taking charge of their own destiny through nuculear power, new drilling and new technologies.

On My Previous Post

In regards to yesterday's post, I need to clarify my statement. It is important to value all people regardless of their personal achievements. We are even to love our enemies because what does it say about us if we only love those that love us, can give us something or have a higher station in life than us.

Man of Honor

Yesterday I went to a memorial service for a man from church. I knew him as a happy, kind hearted, barrel chested man with a booming voice who doted on his grandchildren. At the service I saw glimpse of much more of him. He was a Marine who fought in Korea, he was a drill instructor and he later earned a master's degree in mathematics and a P.H.D. in computer science.

I feel bad I did not fully appreciate the man and see the depth of his person. Don't let appearances be everything. The Bible requires us to love each other, to care for each other and be a brother in Christ.
